Designating an Authorized Agent to Work with SDRS
An Authorized Agent is the connection that links SDRS' administration, the membership, and your employer. When designating an Authorized Agent for your agency, you can name one or more staff members. When selecting an Authorized Agent for your agency, a permanent, full-time employee who is contributing to SDRS is the best choice because such employees bring their own interest and involvement in the system and its benefits. The Authorized Agent should also have the following qualifications:
- A close working knowledge of all personnel
- Access to personnel records, payroll, and other employee compensation records
- An adequate channel of communication with the agency's governing body or chief executive officer
- Sufficient time to perform the local administrative SDRS functions
It is important that you notify SDRS of changes in the contact person for your organization to ensure receipt of important information. SDRS communicates most frequently via email. We ask that you please keep your email addresses current.
